About

Station is the Baltics' leading media monitoring and analysis platform, providing real-time insights across print, online, TV, radio, and social media. Trusted by both public institutions and private organisations, it enables clients across Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania to monitor their media presence, manage public perception, and make informed decisions based on live, AI-powered analysis. As the platform continued to expand regionally, Station identified the need to upgrade its user interface and experience to better support its growing base of power users and editorial teams.

Problem

Station’s platform had evolved over time without a cohesive design approach. With only one developer also acting as the UX designer, the result was a fragmented interface made up of inconsistent UI components, inefficient workflows, and unclear hierarchies. Editors struggled with missing quick-action tools, inconsistent tagging, and layout issues that slowed down their daily tasks. The brand’s single colour scheme also presented regional challenges—particularly in Lithuania, where the dominant purple colour unintentionally clashed with political associations

Solution

Design system To address both usability and scalability, I created a comprehensive design system tailored to Station’s platform needs. The system was fully documented with practical guidelines and real-world examples, making it easy for the development team to implement new components consistently moving forward. The entire platform UI was redesigned from the ground up, with a focus on clarity, hierarchy, and ease of use—particularly for the editorial team, whose workflows were simplified and optimized.

User feedback We introduced two distinct colour schemes to accommodate regional sensitivities, ensuring the brand remained adaptable without compromising its core identity. Throughout the redesign process, we interviewed key stakeholders and editorial users from all three countries. Their feedback directly informed key interface improvements, aligning the user experience with real needs and enhancing cross-regional usability.

Outcome

The platform redesign improved editor workflows by 40% and reduced tag management time by 30%. Better content organization and discoverability made daily operations more efficient. With a scalable design system in place, Station is positioned to grow as the region's leading media intelligence provider.
